The following actions with regard to the Smart School Bond Act were approved by the Board of Education on January 23, 2018:

Moved by Mr. Pickard, seconded by Mrs. Wakefield that the Board approve the following resolution.
RESOLUTION APPROVING PRELIMINARY SMART SCHOOLS INVESTMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, The Smart Schools Bond Act (the “Act”) was passed as part of the 2014-15 enacted state budget and was approved by voter referendum during the 2014 general election; and
WHEREAS, the Act authorizes New York State to issue $2 billion in general obligation bonds to finance improved educational technology and infrastructure projects for public schools; and
WHEREAS, the District was allocated $1,001,822 to finance improved educational technology and infrastructure projects in the District; and
WHEREAS, the monies allocated are paid out as refunds to the District upon expenditure of funds under an approved Smart Schools Investment Plan (“SSIP”); and
WHEREAS, the District, pursuant to its allocation of funds through the Act, has developed a preliminary SSIP to expend $110,000 for video security, $100,000 for network connections, and $575,000 for emergency classroom notification.
WHEREAS, the Board of Education has reviewed the preliminary SSIP and determined that approval of the preliminary SSIP is in the best interest of the District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proposed preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan to expend $110,000 for video security, $100,000 for network connections, and $575,000 for emergency classroom notification.
Motion Carried: Yes 6, No 0, Abstain 0.
Moved by Mrs. Hulme seconded by Mr. Pickard that the Board schedule a public hearing with regard to the Smart Schools Bond Act Preliminary Investment Plan for 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, in the Warsaw Elementary School, and authorize the District Clerk to issue legal notices with regard to such hearing. Motion Carried: Yes 6, No 0, Abstain 0.

Warsaw Central School District
RESOLUTION APPROVING FINAL SMART SCHOOLS INVESTMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, the District accepted a preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan (“SSIP”) on January 23, 2018 pursuant to The Smart Schools Bond Act (the “Act”); and
WHEREAS, the preliminary SSIP was posted on the District’s website for at least 30 days, and the District included an address to which any written comments on the preliminary SSIP should be sent; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education conducted a public hearing that enabled stakeholders to respond to the preliminary SSIP, for which adequate notice of the public hearing was provided through local media and the District website for at least two weeks prior to the hearing; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education has considered all public comments, completed a final SSIP, and determined that approval of the final SSIP is in the best interest of the District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the final Smart Schools Investment Plan to expend $100,000 for network connectivity. $110,000 for video security, $575,000 for emergency classroom notification be approved.
